Cookham is a village rich in artistic and literary heritage, lifelong home to the remarkable artist Sir Stanley Spencer he drew inspiration from the countryside that surrounded him and many of his works are on permanent display at the art gallery which bears his name just 2 minutes-walk from Moor Hall.

The beautiful village of Cookham has some excellent restaurants and pubs as well as one or two fascinating independent shops. Slightly further afield we have the culinary capital of the south east, Bray and the picture postcard towns of Marlow and Windsor can be reached in under twenty minutes.

This is indeed a place of inspiration

Literary giants such as Kenneth Grahame, Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl also called Cookham home at various times and today the place remains an inspiration to writers and artists visiting the area.

Little wonder then that Be Inspired by Cookham is an organisation dedicated to preserving and developing the artistic heritage of this remarkable little Village on the banks of The River Thames, at the heart of the beautiful Royal County of Berkshire.

We welcome groups interested in drawing inspiration in whatever their chosen field from writer’s workshops and screenwriting courses to watercolour classes and the culinary arts.

Moor Hall enjoys an almost perfect location for exploring some of the most beautiful towns, villages and countryside in England and we are delighted to welcome weekend tours and special interest groups keen to explore the area.

The magnificent Cliveden House is a mere 4 miles from Moor Hall whilst Windsor with all its Royal and historic attractions is just a ten minute drive away. The village of Cookham itself is blessed with an array of independent shops, restaurants and traditional English pubs whilst the jewel in the crown must be the Stanley Spencer Gallery, featuring the largest collection in the world of this remarkable artists work.

Our facilities are perfect for parties of up to 160 and we offer group rates and free organisers places where appropriate.
